As the rapid growth of AI and data centers drives demand for both computing power and electricity, the convergence of the two is emerging as a major opportunity for the energy and digital industries. Against this backdrop, China Power Engineering Consulting Group (CPECC) has established a Computing-Power Synergy Industry Development Platform, aiming to integrate its expertise in energy engineering and digital infrastructure and accelerate the development of integrated “green power + computing” solutions.

BEIJING, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Computing-power and power coordination has become a national strategic priority in China and is being rapidly implemented. Computing-power infrastructure has entered a phase of policy-driven, high-quality expansion. China’s intelligent computing capacity is projected to exceed 20 million PFLOPS by 2030, while electricity consumption associated with computing power is expected to reach 800 billion kWh, indicating significant market potential. CPECC said the platform is designed to implement China’s “East-to-West Computing” strategy, support China Energy Engineering Corporation’s development priorities under its 15th Five-Year Plan, and promoting the integration of AI and green energy. It also represents a key initiative to optimize CPECC’s business structure and strengthen its integrated energy and digital service capabilities.

Since entering the computing-power and energy integration sector in 2021, CPECC has achieved progress through a number of major projects.
