RŪ Tampa Hosts Child Dedication Ceremony for Families

TAMPA, FL — RŪ Tampa announces a special Child Dedication ceremony, inviting families to publicly commit to raising their children to know and follow Jesus Christ. The celebration offers parents the opportunity to present their children before God, their family, and the church community in a meaningful act of faith and dedication.
Child Dedication is a sacred moment where parents make a covenant before God and the church to raise their children according to biblical principles. Rooted in Scripture, including passages like 1 Samuel 1:27-28 where Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord, and Luke 2:22 where Mary and Joseph presented Jesus at the temple, this ceremony represents a parent’s commitment to nurture their child’s spiritual development.
“Children are a gift from the Lord,” said a church representative, citing Psalm 127:3. “Child Dedication is our opportunity to celebrate this precious gift and for parents to commit to partnering with God and the church in raising their children to discover their purpose and follow Jesus.”
A Partnership in Faith
Child Dedication differs from infant baptism in that it represents the parents’ commitment rather than the child’s personal decision. RŪ Tampa believes that baptism is a choice individuals make for themselves when they are old enough to understand and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Dedication, however, is the parents’ promise to model what following Jesus looks like and to create a home environment where faith can flourish.
During the ceremony, parents publicly express their desire to raise their child in a Christian home, believing and praying that their child will come to know the Lord and follow Him throughout their life. The church family responds by committing to support and encourage the parents in this vital calling. The next Child Dedication ceremony is November 16th at 9:00 am.
A Special Celebration
The Child Dedication ceremony takes place during a Sunday service, creating a memorable moment for families surrounded by their church community. Parents and their children are invited to the front, where they are prayed over and blessed by church leadership. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate this significant milestone in the child’s spiritual journey.
The ceremony emphasizes the biblical mandate found in Deuteronomy 6:5-7, which calls parents to love God wholeheartedly and to teach His commandments diligently to their children in every aspect of daily life.
